What will the apprentice be doing?
• Use and maintenance of machine tools.
• Welding, predominately MIG but other processes can be taught.
• Fabrication of simple and complex components.
• Fabrication of large products.
• Use of overhead cranes. (certified courses will be completed)
• Use of forklift trucks. (certified courses will be completed)
• Other basic engineering principles.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.
This is a day release delivery model, so attendance at our engineering innovation centre is required one day a week in term time.
This standard comes with mandatory qualifications that must be included in the training section: Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
