Carrying out administration tasks. Maintaining confidentiality, ensuring only relevant and correct information is given to patients and outside agencies.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Booking/cancelling/rearranging appointments
- Answering the phone and dealing with requests for appointments, results or diverting the call to the most appropriate team member
- Triaging patients for same day appointments
- Issuing repeat prescriptions and checking review dates for medication
- Act upon home visit requests
- Receive, action, and send electronic messages in the form of patient tasks / correspondence
- Writing and updating patient records
- Recognise a medical emergency and act on it according to practice protocols
- Completing patient registrations
- Opening/closing the premises, ensuring the building is secure
- Opening and sorting post, scanning on appropriate letters to patient records
- Maintaining the stationary at the practice
- Assisting the practice manager with QOF activity and monitoring
- Complete referrals to secondary care via the E-referral Service and Prism
- Attend practice meetings monthly or when necessary
- Attend any appropriate training at the practice or elsewhere.

L3 Apprenticeship Standard in Business Administrator
Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths (if required)
End-Point Assessment (EPA):
- Knowledge test
- Portfolio based interview
- Project presentation
Delivery Method
- 14 sessions delivered at Loughborough (Thurs AM)
- Online portfolio to update with learning and development completed onsite
- Diarised visits from dedicated Trainer/Assessor
- Attendance to Loughborough College for Functional Skills (if required)
