As an apprentice Teaching Assistant you will support the classroom teacher to ensure the students can access the curriculum whilst promoting their independence, self-esteem and overall social inclusion. The role of a Teaching Assistant is vital to ensure our young people can participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Helping the pupils stay focused
- Working with the classroom teacher to ensure students are meeting their potential
- Assisting teachers in preparing classroom resources
- Providing a healthy & safe learning environment for students
- Helping teachers manage student behaviour
- Recording & reporting student progress to teachers/SENCO
- Safeguarding students
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.
