The HOP Working week is Monday - Friday typically 8/8:30am - 5/5:30pm with an hour for lunch. One day a week is spent 'Training' which during the academic calendar will be spent attending University.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The successful candidate initially begins in a Technician role, working within a small project team to support Engineers. As you develop your skillset and progress academically, you will be encouraged to take more responsibility for your drawings and will develop into a more senior technician role. An important point to note is that a developed drawing ability, learnt on the job, is a vitally important tool for engineers at any level. The experience gained through a technician role at HOP greatly contributes to your problem solving ability and understanding of how structures are built / connected together, an important part of engineering.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The successful candidate will be mentored in house in addition to attending University one day a week. At the end of your degree course you will have achieved a BEng in Civil Engineering and will be eligible to pass through to the end point assessment, where you can attain Incorperated status with the ICE.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual hoping to begin their career as a Structural/Civil Engineer within a multi-disciplinary consultancy. We work on a variety of projects including multi-million pound residential and commercial developments, roads, bridges, sports stadiums, piers and much more. We will continue to support you post degree, to achieve Chartership with the appropriate professional body as a Civil, Structural or Marine Engineer.
