Apprentice Groundworker BRIAN THOMPSON AGRICULTURAL CONTRACTORS LIMITED

Working alongside experienced team and under supervision you will learn all aspects of groundworking: digging shallow trenches for foundations, pipework, drains & ducting, backfilling and reinstating, labour support to other team members. What will the apprentice be doing?

Some of the day to day responsibilities:

  • Helping to prepare sites for building works
  • Site clearance
  • Land management
  • Setting out
  • Preparing surfaces
  • Concreting & formwork
  • Installing drainage
  • Banksman
  • Conducting on site hazard assessments
  • Manual handling
  • Loading & unloading
  • Tidying site and yard
  • Cleaning and maintaining vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Erecting NRSWA compliant signage and protection/temporary works

  • Use of hand tools & power tools

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Candidate can move to qualified groundworker role upon successful completion. Thereafter move through to Senior Groundworker/Supervisor and Site Management roles.

With this job there are opportunities to train up in Agriculture related contracting work too, if candidate is interested.

Things to consider

Hours - some early starts and irregular hours. Overtime at weekends and evenings may be required to meet deadlines. During busy periods, you may work longer hours. Due to the nature of the job successful candidate will be required to travel to various locations, therefore ability to travel independently and access to own transport is preferable.
