What will the apprentice be doing?

This role involves working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, taking pride in keeping the kitchen and all catering equipment clean and well-maintained. This role is to assist the kitchen team in producing sandwiches, salads, and freshly baked cakes. Whilst also helping to prepare & serve hot meals for breakfast and lunch.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Qualification achieved will be Production Chef Apprenticeship level 2.  Attending York College on a day release basis, starting in September.

You will be trained in working with other team members, knowledge of food safety, and assisting in the preparation, cooking and finishing of a range of menu items. Attention to detail, understanding the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment are key, as well as assisting in the opening and close down of the kitchen under the direction of a more senior member of the team.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Potential offer of a permanent position – either at Askham Bryan College or another Aramark site.  Opportunity to progress within the business when an opportunity arises.
