We have an apprentice opportunity at our salon/barber venue in Cambourne. This position will suit a new apprentice looking to start their career, also we encourage candidates to apply who will be progressing from level 2 to level 3. You will be working in the salon 4 days a week with 1 day a week at Cambridge Regional College.

    Monday 9am - 6pm, Tuesday 9am - 6pm, Wednesday 9am - 6pm, Thursday 9am - 7.30pm, Friday 9am - 6pm, Saturday 9am - 3pm. *On a staff rota basis: Thursday to 7.30pm, apprentice will start Friday’s at 11am. 2 days off per week, Sunday and a weekday.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Salon responsibilities will include:

Greeting clients as they arrive
Dealing with payments and appointment bookings
Shampooing, draping and brushing out a client's hair before the cut or style
Preparing colour treatments
Supplying refreshments to clients
Maintaining the presentation of the salon at all times
No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Hair Professional level 2 standard from occupational knowledge of shampooing, conditioning , cutting techniques, hair growth, colouring etc 
Training will be delivered 1 day per week at CRC
Mentoring and on the job training will occur in the workplace

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship, at Level 2, could lead to a permanent hairdressing technician role and the chance to continue on to Level 3.

Things to consider

This is a creative and rewarding industry and you will be provided with close mentoring support to progress. The very nature of the job role as a hairdresser means standing for long periods and good body posture is important. Will be required to work Saturday’s and a late shift during the week. The apprentice to wear their own smart black attire.
