What will the apprentice be doing?

Your day-to-day tasks will be:

  • Installing windows, doors & curtain wall systems to form all or part of the external envelope of a building
  • The installation process includes fixing primary system, securing the infill materials & applying all the perimeter abutment products following the Centre for Window & Cladding Technology guidelines & systems manuals
  • Setting out and fixing of the main grid work in accordance with the approved drawings and work instructions
  • Fitting of doors and windows into the curtain wall grid

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprenticeship in Curtain Walling consists of:

  • Advanced Standard Apprenticeship-Curtain Wall
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths (Level 1/2) where applicable

All aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with your employer, and you will have regular site visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship programme.

You will achieve a qualification in Curtain Waller Level 3 Standard.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion of the level 3 Curtain Wall qualification, providing you show the correct skills and abilities, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a full-time position and possibly a level 4 or 5 apprenticeship. We are looking to invest our knowledge, skills and time in the right person. This position has the potential to develop into a successful career for the right candidate with the position growing with the company.

Things to consider

Our developments are often multi-storey buildings and therefore demand a confidence with working at height. For any applicants applying who are 19 and over in your first year of your apprenticeship the hourly rate will be £7 per an hour and then in month 13 this will be reviewed with you and senior management team.
