What will the apprentice be doing?

·       Assisting the dentists and hygienist chairside.

·       Chaperoning patients to and from the surgery and ensuring patients are comfortable during dental treatments.

·       Follow all cross infection protocols and procedures to ensure the practice is kept to the standards of the CQC.

·       Decontamination of instruments in a timely manner and ensuring procedures are followed.

·       Ensuring surgeries are stocked throughout the surgery sessions.

Reception duties when required, which involves dealing with patients face to face and over the telephone to make, or amend appointments and deal with enquiries. Also taking payments from patients for dental treatments.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The Succssesful candidate will be working towards an NVQ Level 3 dental nurse practitoner qualification. Training will be delivered on the job and through The Learning Foundry. This will be done via 1 to 1 visits with an assessor, being assigned units to work on, and sessions at our campus in Liverpool city centre normally once a month.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The aim of this apprenticeship is to progress into a full time, fully qualified dental nurse withing the practice, with further training and progression to follow.
