What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Working within the Welding bays alongside your mentor
  • Selecting correct tools, equipment and materials for work set out
  • Measuring/Marking out
  • Working off drawings provided to create the final product
  • Using a variety of welding techniques to create the final product

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage and gain valuable work experience. You will be expected to work towards the Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.

Things to consider

Must be able to get to the employer premises on a daily basis and to the training centre on Pride Park in Derby for the day release. The successful candidate will also be required to work at our Head Office site at Whittington House, South Street North, New Whittington, Chesterfield S43 2BP.
