What will the apprentice be doing?
Working for us, you will experience all aspects of power unit build. We are known as the Drive and Control Company. You will be mentored by multi skilled fitters with many years experience, people who really know their stuff and if you want to learn, they want to teach you. You won’t just spend time on the shop floor though – we like our apprentices to really understand our business, so with time, you will work in rotations such as engineering design.
We try to match our apprentices to a variety of roles at the end of the apprenticeship, according to their aspirations as well as the needs of the company. You may start on the shopfloor, but if you want to and show the ability and desire to push yourself, your career could branch out into engineering design, project management, service engineering, sales, etc etc.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards L3 Engineering fitter apprenticeship standard.
In order to complete this apprenticeship standard you will need to have gained a level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
You will attend college at the Castleford campus. You may be required to attend for up to 5 days per week within your first year, this will be discussed at a later stage.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
It is usual for our apprentices to study to at least HNC, possibly HND or to degree level, depending up on ability and interest.
