What will the apprentice be doing?

Whilst shadowing technicians you will be assisting with:

  • Vehicle servicing 
  • Defects
  • Repairs
  • Preparation for MOT 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Block release at SMB College Group, Stephenson Campus, Thornborough Road, Coalville LE67 3TN will include:

  • Delivery of HGV Maintenance Technician Level 3 
  • Functional Skills maths and English (if applicable)

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) Desired
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) Desired

Things to consider

Grade 4/C in maths and English or equivalent qualifications are desirable (applicants who do not meet the criteria will be assessed by a college representative and complete further maths and English diagnostics). Candidates will have an interest in gaining their PCV licence (when old enough) which will allow them to drive the vehicles.
