What will the apprentice be doing?
To assist with milking, scraping out, feeding calves
bedding calves, cleaning youngstock out bedding and
feeding and all general farm work.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Training will be provided in the workplace through
Myerscough College where you will work towards a Level 2
General Farm Worker Apprenticeship
The qualification is made up of a number of mandatory units
designed to have maximum relevance to the job & integrate
with day to day responsibilities. Along with Level 2 Awards in:
• Emergency First Aid at Work
• The Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1)
On completion of the pesticide foundation unit (PA1) above
you will also choose one of the following units:
Boom sprayer, mounted, trailed or self-propelled equipment
(PA2a)
OR
Handheld applicator equipment (PA6a)
The end point assessment will contain 3 components:
• Online multiple choice test
• Workplace observation of practical tasks, 3 tasks over
1 day
• Professional discussion
There will be 3 levels of achievement: Pass, Merit & Distinction
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
There is a chance to stay on after apprenticeship
dependant on application to the position offered in the
scheme.
