    Health Shield cash plan offered after 3 months employment. Annual salary review. Auto-enrolment pension scheme after 3 months of employment (auto qualifying age is 22, however with the Directors discretion this can be brought forward).

  • Working week

    Monday to Friday approx 8am to 4pm or 8.30am to 4.30pm (tbc). For site work, shifts inc travelling may exceed 8 hours. Over 18s will be paid overtime, those under 18 will not exceed 40 hours per week.

What will the apprentice be doing?

• Assisting in the assembly works of mechanical water and sewage treatment equipment
• Checking fabrications against drawings
• Completing workshop job packs
• Assisting in ordering parts
• Collecting / off-loading parts from suppliers
• Checking off deliveries against purchase orders
• This role will include general housekeeping, maintenance and cleaning. Plus making tea!

Site work with a Supervisor to assist in mechanical installations/servicing of some of the products assembled in the works. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Engineering Fitter Level 3

EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (10 unit Performing Engineering Operations). BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

A flexible model of delivery will be undertaken based on the employer’s needs e.g. attend College two days per week for two years or one day per week for four years, or attend College on a one-year full-time basis and one day in Year 2. You will build a portfolio of competence towards End-Point Assessment (EPA). 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion of a successful apprenticeship, IQ Engineers will review if there are any suitable job roles available within the business. We invest in our apprentices with a hope that they will continue to develop their skills within the business with great opportunities for progression.

Things to consider

In the last year 2 years, site installations/servicing will be completed usually when over 18 which can be in all weathers. Some shifts may exceed 8 hours, paid as overtime. About the employer

IQ Engineers is a growing family-owned business in York. It started in 1994 and became incorporated in 2008. There are currently 16 employees with plans to recruit up to 4 more this year in different areas of the business. Our offices & Workshop are based in York. IQ Engineers design, manufacture, supply, mechanical installation, servicing, refurbishment and commissioning of water/ sewage treatment plant and equipment including Penstocks for clients in the UK and Southern Ireland.
