    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This is an opportunity to become part of the Triumph Apprenticeship programme as a Motorcycle Technician. Supported throughout by a dedicated employer, this vacancy is for a 3 year Apprenticeship that will result in  the successful candidate gaining an Advanced Apprenticeship in Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair.

As a Motorcycle Technician you would be involved in a variety of tasks ranging from:

  • Servicing and repairs
  • Replacing components
  • Using specialist equipment such as electrical and electronic diagnostics
  • Engine tuning equipment to measure performance
  • Rectifying faults on customer’s vehicles in a busy Triumph workshop

GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A-C in

Things to consider

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Your training will be delivered as block release, which will involve extended periods away from home (1 week blocks). The cost of travel and accommodation is met by the employer.
