Responsibilities of the Software & Web Development Apprentice:

  • Ensure that any duties are carried out professionally whilst maintaining fantastic levels of customer service
  • Dealing with support calls in a timely manner
  • Ensuring that all tickets raised are chased through appropriately
  • Deliver on-site training on the bespoke computer system suite of products (following full training being given)
  • Liaising with clients in relation to installation and support of Hardware and Software
  • You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of using Microsoft computer software and applications
  • Deliver webinar sessions on topical features as directed

Requirements of the Software & Web Development Apprentice:

  • Must hold a full, clean UK Driver’s license due to the nature of the role
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good organisation skills and is willing to learn
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ambitious with a strong work ethic, and open to new ideas

Qualifications required

Minimum 7 GCSE Grades (C and above including Mathematics and English) or equivalent with either A levels in IT or Computer Science or someone who has previously completed a Level 3 Software & Web Development Apprenticeship.

Future prospects

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer on-going development tracks.

Things to consider

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Start with an 18-24 month Higher IT apprenticeship, which consists of training in small groups and work-based assessment, with modules that could include: Project management, Web and software development, Database modelling and Testing and implementation.

You will gain City & Guilds Level 4 Diplomas in IT Systems and Principles, and IT Professional Competence.
