    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

  • The role involves the daily processing and bottling of several types of milk.
  • All aspects of the processing and the setting of machines, their maintenance and cleaning are part of the daily work routine.
  • The processing operative works under the direct supervision of the dairy plant manager and will assist in all aspects of milk processing, cream separating and maintaining the plant.
  • A key element in our organisation is the sales of processed and unprocessed milk and the quality of the finished product is very important and a key element is the hygiene and cleaning standards. As the dairy develops new processes will be added such as yoghurt manufacture and cheese making.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and punctual.

Personal qualities

  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of hygiene practice in the workplace

Qualifications required

  • GCSEs in Maths & English or equivalent.
  • You wil be required to pass an initial assessment in Maths and English if you do not have these qualifications.

Future prospects

This would lead to a full time position for the right candidate.

Things to consider

You will need to be able to work flexibly, including early morning starts and Saturday work.
