The successful applicant will assist the stylists:

  • Shampooing clients hair.
  • Mixing colours.
  • Making appointments. 
  • The salon will also need to be kept in tip top condition, kept clean and tidy and an overall excellent impression made to clients, so good communication is essential as well and personal appearance.

We currently have 4 positions at our Ascot salon and 2 positions at our Bagshot salon. College days will not commence until September, but we are more than willing to start training apprentices in the salon immediately!

Desired skills

The applicant needs to be friendly, cheerful, flexible and be able to work in a team.  As the vacancy is customer facing, excellent customer service skills are required.

Personal qualities

The applicant needs to have good communication and artistic skills. They should be honest and have a willing positive attitude.

Qualifications required

GCSE A-D/3 - 9 grades in Maths and English (or equivalent) 

Future prospects

For the right candidate, the apprenticeship could lead to a full time position with the support to progress onto a level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing.

Things to consider

The successful applicant will spend most of their time on their feet and will include working Saturdays and having a day off during the week and a day at college. Please read the job description carefully and re-read your application before submission. In order to be short-listed for an interview, you will need to show how you meet all the requested criteria. We have vacancies in both Ascot and Bagshot. Train stations are nearby each salon. From the 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

Training is mainly assessed in the workplace working towards the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing. You will be expected to attend Farnborough College one day a week.

In addition the applicant will attend a fully paid 2 day induction at the Aveda Institute in London and a minimum 2 courses per year at Aveda or Redken.Training is mainly assessed in the workplace working towards the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
