    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone with a keen interest in food. Normal day to day duties for the Apprentice will include:


  • Food preparation
  • Customer service
  • Good food hygiene
  • Food service skills including hot and cold beverage production
  • General cleaning duties – kitchen, bar and front of house
  • Dish washing
  • Stock control
  • Customer services interacting with customers
  • Cash handling
  • Adhere to procedures: health and safety, hygiene etc.


Applicants must have a genuine passion for cooking and will be willing to work and train within the Catering and Hospitality sector.

Will include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
