During term time apprentices will be involved with Special Educational Needs (SEN) learners on a day to day basis supporting the Outdoor Activity Instructor (OAI) / Inclusive Education Practitioner (IEP) in the delivery of progressive curriculum based learning.

Successful applicants will work year round alongside a qualified Outdoor Activity Instructor/Inclusive Education Practitioner, delivering a bespoke package of academic learning including basic maths, English and ICT to learners with Special Educational Needs and challenging behaviours (2:1 or 2:2 staff: student ratio).

The apprentices will typically work with a specific IEP on a daily basis but can work alongside any OAI depending on the activity being delivered.

IEPs take the lead for the day to day management of their learner’s bespoke curriculum; and the apprentice supports and learns from the IEP.

The apprentice will be actively involved in:

  • the preparation of learning material
  • the delivery of learning objectives through both academic and outdoor learning activities
  • supporting basic maths, English and ICT to learners
  • Outside term time the apprentice will be deployed at the activity centre as part of the outdoor activity delivery team and could work with any number of OAIs including seasonal and freelance operators on a wide range of activities.

This will really help support and develop in to the role and will include weekend working on rota.

Apprentices are required to commit to their apprenticeship training requirements which will include self-study both during and outside your working hours.

Training for additional outdoor activity qualifications may be delivered outside normal working hours.
