We are seeking an apprentice to work as part of a small busy design team. The role will involve the design of fire sprinkler systems using Autocad 2D design and Autodesk Revit 3D design software packages and current hydraulic calculation software.

As an apprentice you’ll be working at a day-to-day-level on individual projects rather than being involved in major policy decisions. 

Key Responsibilities and expectations:

  • To become proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Revit software products. This will give you a firm grasp of the basics of technical design
  • To gain specified qualifications to meet job role requirements and advance to Design Engineer (course based with an exam - LPC basic, intermediate, FHC and commissioning exams)
  • To gain knowledge of current fixed fire fighting system standards and application of each including LPC BS EN12845:2015 and NFPA/FM
  • To gain knowledge of the company quality management system and ISO9001:2000 quality standard
  • To gain knowledge of the LPS1048 third party surveillance scheme as operated by the Loss Prevention Certification Board
  • Good listener, able to communicate positively and constructively, numeracy organisation and IT skills are important
  • The ability to work as part of a small team as well as working on your own initiative.
  • To represent RFE at all times in a professional manner
  • To adhere to all company procedures and policies including quality, health and safety
  • Strong problem solving and a desire to come up with practical solutions
  • The ability to convert verbal and written information into two dimensional drawings which will then be used on site for construction - accuracy and attention to detail are essential
  • Build, develop and maintain good relationships with external customers and sub-contractors
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance
  • The desire to undertake future training and continue with future personal development
  • Full clean driving licence required or to be attained
