    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The Torbay Court Hotel is looking for an Apprentice Hospitality Assistant to work with the general manager and the team to learn every aspect of the business.

Duties will include reception, serving on the bar and waiting on, housekeeping. You will be assisting in ensuring that our customers have a wonderful time while staying with us.

  • Working on the Bar serving drinks restocking the bar
  • Housekeeping duties, cleaning bedrooms and reception area
  • Waiting on serving food and drinks
  • Reception taking booking, dealing with enquiries
  • You will adhere to health & safety policies

As an Apprentice you will be included on a Hospitality Qualification, this will involve a Vocational Learning Advisor who will visit you on a regular basis, to deliver the training and coach the Apprentice and will be observing whilst you work. Previous experience is not required as the employer is looking for someone who wants to develop a long term career in Hospitality.

Things to consider

Under 18s can serve alcohol only when supervised. Under 18s require two days off per week and cannot work more than 40hrs/week or more than 8 hours/day. The minimum hours worked will be 30 but could be asked to work more and the wage will be pro rata accordingly.The work pattern is any 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis. Shifts will include days, evenings, and weekend work to the requirements of the workplace. Please note you could be asked to interview earlier than date given, as we are looking to fulfil the positions as soon as possible. Please ensure you apply early to avoid disappointment.
