This is an opportunity an apprentice to learn general engineering skills and eventually become a competent, qualified engineer.

The job role will be to build special purpose machinery, primarily for glass melting, and you will work towards the following roles:

  • CNC machining
  • Manual machining
  • Welding
  • Water pressure testing
  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Electrical work
  • Quality inspection
  • Operating a crane and sling
  • Operating a fork lift truck
  • Finish processing

The company is looking to create lifelong engineers who have the capability and flexibility to work anywhere within the company. You will be required to attend college in Aldridge, WS 8UG, as part of the training - travel assistance will be given towards this.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Previous engineering knowledge/studies would be preferred
  • Own transport required due to travelling to college in Aldridge, Walsall
  • Good written and verbal communications
  • Good maths skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Must have a genuine interest in engineering and therefore willing to commit to this apprenticeship training

This is a four year Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship and will require the successful apprentice to attend college, In-Comm Training Services - Aldridge WS9 8UG, as part of the training. Travel assistance will be given when travelling to college. Please ensure you can travel to both the company and college sites. The training will include:
