United Springs excel in the design and manufacture of bespoke wireforms, pressings and coil springs. The business is looking for an Engineer Apprentice to join its friendly team in Rochdale. Work will United include, learning how to operate machinery to produce a variety of many different springs from various materials. Training will include off the job training to complete a level 2 Apprenticeship where you will learn mechanical skills and how to operate machinery safely.

Toolroom/Maintenance Apprentice 

Work with a small team within the Engineering/Innovation Department to help in of all aspects of creating parts, tooling and maintaining machinery to help with a smooth running of all production departments. Using a wide range of skills and techniques gained through college and onsite development

Manual machining including milling and surface grinding

  • CNC machining including milling and turning
  • Fabrication and welding

Apprentice/Trainee Auto-Coil Springmaker

To learn how to manufacture components to drawing requirements using the appropriate machinery and equipment, ensuring that the components are completed on time, to cost and to quality standards that are specified.

To be trained and developed in order to:

  • Able to set up coiling machine for use
  • Able to manufacture components to drawing requirements using a variety of machinery and equipment within the department to do so
  • To follow production and quality procedures
  • To work in a safe and proper manner
  • To complete apprenticeship successfully both practical and theory through on-the-job training and college work

Personal qualities

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, keen to learn and work well in a team. Working as part of a small team you will be heavily involved in many aspects of the product. The successful candidate will have an interest in mechanical principles.

GCSE maths and English at grades A-C/9-4 or equivalent
