Smile Dental Practitioners are pleased to announce they have a vacancy for a trainee dental nurse at our practice located in the Humberstone area on the outskirts of Leicester. The role will primarily require you to work chair side to support our qualified and experienced Dentists. You will work as an essential part of our team in providing the best care and support of our patients which may include working in the reception area. An essential part of this position will be completing the advanced apprenticeship programme which will require you to Leicester College for training.
Daily duties would typically include the following:
- Assisting the dentist chair side
- Sterilisation of instruments
- Developing X rays
- Reception and administration duties
- Cross infection control
- Preparation of the surgery
- Ensuring the practice is clean and looking at its best at all times

We are seeking a person with excellent communication skills, who has the ability to adapt to meet the needs of the patients in surgery.
Personal qualities
It is essential that the successful candidate has empathetic nature, is flexible and can work well under pressure as a part of a team. You will also need to be enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn new skills.
Desired qualifications
GCSE Grade 8-4/A-C and above in maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications) are a mandatory requirement for this vacancy.

Things to consider
The successful candidate will be required to undertake various pre-employment checks before commencing work at the practice.
The working day will be from 8.45 am to 6pm Monday to Friday. You may also be required to work on Saturday Mornings on a rota basis.
You will also be required to undertake a Hep B vaccination and an enhanced DBS check.
You will be required to attend Leicester College for the knowledge based aspect of the apprenticeship qualification. Smile dental practice will give you time out of your working week to attend these sessions.
Interview, closing date possible start dates are only a guideline as interviews for this position will be held on an ongoing basis, therefore the start date could alter as the vacancy will close as soon as a successful candidate is selected.

The advanced apprenticeship programme will require you to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. This is a 15 unit programme of which 11 units are portfolio based and assessed in the workplace. The remaining 4 units are theory exam based and delivered via e-learning.
