The role of the apprentice will be to assist in all manufacturing areas of the business, which will include, machine maintenance, production, inspection and health & safety.
Programming, setting and running a variety of CNC machines and 3D printers.
Fabrication of plastic components.
Work is generally varied, there will however be some long running jobs which require secondary and manual operations. Keeping work place clean and tidy is part of the everyday routine.
The successful applicant will be trained / work on; CNC machines including mills, routers, lathes and lasers. Manual machines including saws, lathes, routers and drills.
Software packages for drawing components and creating tool paths. Various aspects of bench-work. All work is carried out on a variety of rigid plastic sheet/rod/bar, producing prototypes, small batches and productions runs for a wide range of industries. Industrial Plastic Fabrications offers high quality machined, formed and fabricated plastic components, plus rapid prototyped parts and 3D printing to the very best standard in the industry.

Harlow College offers 2 different routes through the Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
The qualifications you will achieve will be:
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge) - Machining Route Only
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining / Mechatronics
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Machining / Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
Plus functional skills at Level 2 Maths and Level 2 English if you do not hold a C/4 or above grade in GCSE
