Duties Include:

  • Develop the skills to provide technical help and support to clients and staff of PBSL
  • Develop the skills to build & Configure I.T. Equipment
  • Ability to visit client sites to provide technical services in the form of support or installations
  • Ability to prioritise work according to the needs of the clients and within contracted SLA’s
  • Develop the skills to resolve client issues within acceptable timescales and escalate calls as necessary
  • Ability to answer incoming support calls timely and professionally
  • At all times ensure the clients data integrity and security
  • Ability to record all work accurately on the company’s timesheet system
  • Develop the skills to maintain and develop the company’s support system and knowledge base
  • Ability to monitor workloads and report on any issues affecting the ability to complete tasks on time
  • Ability to respond to client request for sales related queries
  • Ability to undertake ongoing training to continue to further your skills as the market demands
  • Develop ideas for improving the support process
  • Ensure your work area is kept clean and tidy

Things to consider

From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. An opportunity exists for an Apprentice Technical Support Engineer with an established, dynamic company based in Oakhanger. The Apprentice will develop their skills across a range of competencies including: Technical support/helpdesk, software design and development and computer repairs. Proteus Business Solutions develop bespoke software solutions and provide IT support to businesses large and small. Much of their work is within the retail and petroleum industries, providing state of the art POS and Back Office stock control solutions. Over the years, they have produced systems across many industry sectors including; Accounting, Banking, Retail, Agricultural, Manufacturing, I.T., Aviation, Distribution and Education. Providing first class solutions and support with an emphasis on customer service.

Training provider

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Guildford for up to 8 weeks on a block release basis for structured training. The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer.

You will work towards a Level 3 Trailblazer – Infrastructure Technician.

The qualifications consist of:

  • Edexcel Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
  • Level 3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
  • Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
  • BCS Foundation Certificate in Networking and Architecture Principles (Knowledge Module 1)
  • BCS Foundation Certificate in Mobile and Operating Systems (Knowledge Module 2)
  • BCS Foundation Certificate in Cloud Services (Knowledge Module 3)
  • MTA in Software Development Fundamentals or HTML5 App Development Fundamentals (Knowledge Module 4)
  • BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Processes (Knowledge Module 5)
