Your tasks will include:

  • Learning the importance of working safely and the correct safe use of PPE equipment and safe working practices within a workshop environment
  • Learn how to read and follow fabrication drawings to works order
  • Learning the process for setting out the components to be marked for drilling, cutting, welding, or bending
  • Learn and use cutting machinery
  • Learn how to calculate and use dimensionally measurements and checks for welding and fabrication
  • Learn how to prepare and set up a welding equipment and tools and maintain a clean and tidy work area
  • Weld together steel components
  • Learn about and use Welding equipment
  • Prepare and use the equipment for bolting connections or tack welding component parts
  • Work to procedures and standards to achieve quality work to meet recognised Welding coded standards and customer specification

This is ideal for someone looking for a structured, supportive, and challenging apprenticeship.  It will give you the opportunity to carry out a real job with real responsibilities while you work towards achieving a Fabricator/Welder qualification.

You will become part of a team producing excellent quality fabricated and welded components for the use in structural and architectural steelwork for some of the UK biggest Housebuilders.

Our bespoke Infrastructure and Engineering projects - no two designs are the same, no two jobs are the same and there is always something to learn. 

Once qualified, there are opportunities to develop your skills to progress your career into other areas of the business.

Desired qualifications

5 GCSE’s at Grade C/4 (or above) to include maths, English and Science is essential.

Things to consider

This is a practical workshop-based role so you will need to be able to commute to Loughborough.  We are near Loughborough train station.

Due to the nature of Engineering products, the environment can be dirty, dusty, and noisy wearing PPE is mandatory.

The job will involve standing for most of the day.

You will need to adhere to safe working practices and be willing to work under instruction.

Additional training to take place at Loughborough College to develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours to accordance to this Apprenticeship. Please ensure you can travel before applying.
