Cows & Sows are offering an exciting opportunity to join their passionate and friendly team as a Horticulture Apprentice. You will gain valuable experience and knowledge along with an insight into the industry.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Level 2 (GCSE)
The main duties will include:
- Pruning, Hedge cutting, digging.
- Weeding, cultivating the ground.
- Hard and soft landscaping.
- Turf laying.
- Seed sowing.
- Propagation in the poly tunnels.
- Nursery plant care.
- General maintenance.
Based in Idless Truro, all training provided on site.
Requirements and prospects
- Physically fit/able to work manually throughout the day.
- Great customer service.

- Sense of Humour
GCSEs at grades D/3 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.
The appointed apprentice will be working towards a level 2 Apprenticeship, with future prospects including continuing on with your horticulture education or increased prospects of a skilled job in your chosen industry.
Things to consider
- 7.30am start is negotiable depending on the location of applicant.
- Wage increases pending probation period of 6 months.

Cows & Sows is a successful extension of ‘TC All Garden Maintenance’ which has been in operation for nearly 30 years with a great reputation for quality and care, covering the whole county offering a wide range of garden services including: garden clearance, garden maintenance, planting, pruning, turf laying and lots more.
At Cows & Sows we have a nursery offering the opportunity to gain knowledge on plant care, propagation, seed sowing and plant identification.
The successful applicant will be working alongside our established team based in Idless Truro, meeting each morning at Cows & Sows Nursery, gallery and coffee shop before moving on to the client's home to start the day's work.

Applications for this apprenticeship are being processed by Duchy College
This Apprenticeship will be delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and weekly attendance at Duchy College Rosewarne. The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.
