The team is looking to recruit a hospitality team member apprentice who will help with the processes required for the hospitality services. You will work alongside the head chef and be involved in cooking operations and front of house duties.
The role covers a wide range of common and job specific skills sets that can be transferred across the hospitality industry sectors during the course of your career.
Your duties will include:
- Ensuring the smooth running of your area of work, and working together with all team members and the Head Chef
- Assisting with daily cleaning and periodic deep cleaning of the kitchen which is carried out by all kitchen personnel. We need to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness
- Washing of pots, plates, and cutlery
- Preparing food ready for service
- Assembling/plating dishes prior to serving
- Learning and helping with developing new dishes
- Helping with serving customers food when serving staff are busy
- Assisting the team to make sure stock levels are adequate
- Ensuring your personal grooming reflects the company standards
- To carry out any other duties reasonably requested by a member of the Management Team
Requirements and prospects
Desired skills
- Experience with one or more of the following would be beneficial: preparation activies in the kitchen, hygiene and health & safety standards, organising equiptment and operating a variety of kitchen appliances
- Good communication & people skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills – An open and honest communicator, communicates clearly using appropriate methods, listen well to others and have a positive and respectful attitude
- Ideally experience in kitchen operations (full training will be given)
Personal qualities
- Reliable, organised and can work quickly but efficiently
- Exceptional time management
- Personal responsibility and resilience – Comply with the health and safety guidance and procedures
- Work effectively in teams
- Understanding of Food and Health & Safety regulations
Desired qualifications
4 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including maths and English.
Future prospects
We are a small family team, advancement is always possible as the business continues to grow. It is advantageous when employees are willing to work in all areas of the business - this enables staff to become multi skilled and therefore jobs can be created in other departments as a result.
We wish to increase the awareness and footfall of our restaurant and bar, the advancement is limitless with the right people behind it, therefore positions will be created as we expand.

About the employer
Wyreside Lakes is a family run business set in south Lancaster, at the base of the Bowland Fells. The estate covers 120 acres of land including 6 fishing lakes and lots of easy walks alongside the River Wyre and Fox’s wood.
Originally in 1992 it existed solely as a fishery. Since then the Birkin family have transformed Wyreside into a complex including fishing, glamping pods, Self catering lodges, a bar, restaurant & function room as well as a 4 star campsite!
