Duties include:
- Over the duration of the 18 month apprenticeship you will be required to work a variety of early and late shifts and alternate weekends. The earliest shift would commence at 7am with the latest shift ending at 10pm
- You’ll learn how to care and assist our residents with daily tasks including bathing, washing and dressing, helping them make daily choices or assisting them to eat and drink. Working closely and alongside experienced staff you will develop and understand your responsibility for individuals through key working
- You will need to maintain resident records, and support those experiencing a change in their care requirements to help them maintain and develop their personal skills. Our staff will also help you learn and understand how to administer and record medication as per current guidelines
- In addition, you will gain and develop knowledge of Care Plans, Case Reviews, Community Care Legislation, report writing and awareness of current legislation such as, Health and Safety at Work, Electricity regulations, COSHH, fire procedures and security checks of a building. Importantly you’ll actively contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse, learning about safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable adults
- Throughout your apprenticeship, we will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support in completing your Level 2 Adult Care, which will be delivered in the workplace by the City of Bristol College

You will ideally hold a minimum of GCSE A*-C (or Grade 4-9) or equivalent qualification in English and maths or be willing to undertake and gain Functional Skills in English and maths as part of the apprenticeship.

It is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post. This means that you must declare any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings unless these are protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) order 1975 (amended in 2013).
Please note that as per the Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements, a worker aged 18 or older is required for this post.
All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10 minute presentation as part of the recruitment process.

You’ll be completing a Level 2 Adult Care apprenticeship standard which will provide you with a highly transferable set of knowledge and skills, which you gain by working for us.

In addition to your workplace mentor, you will also be allocated an assessor by City of Bristol college, who will complete regular reviews with you. These reviews are simply to make sure you are on track and happy.
This apprenticeship also requires you to complete an end point assessment which will see you demonstrate what you have learned as an apprentice and how it can be applied in any other organisation. This will be another chance for you to shine!
