As a Support Worker Apprentice, your role will be to provide one to one support for our residents including personal care, cooking for/with them, accompanying them on days out, and generally providing a friendly face for them to engage with. Other duties will include record keeping and medication administration. Our service is home to 5 residents.
Tasks/responsibilities will include:
- Promoting the physical and emotional wellbeing of those in your care
- Assisting residents with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene and dressing
- Assisting with meal times
- Assisting residents with tasks such as shopping and/or collecting medication/prescriptions
- Ensuring those in your care retain their independence and dignity
- Providing companionship
- Delivering high-quality, person centred care.
Requirements and prospects
- Good communication
- Good listening skills
- Previous care experience is desired.
Applicants must be patient, helpful, kind, caring and reliable.
None required, but applicants should have a good standard of numeracy and literacy.
Future prospects could include progressing into the role of a Senior Support Worker or a Team Leader.

During the apprenticeship, you will be training towards a Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker certification and a TQUK Diploma in Care. Over the course of 18 months, you will study modules such as personal development in care settings, the responsibilities of a care worker, handling information in care settings, implementing person-centred care plans, safeguarding & protection in care settings, duty of care in care settings, communication in care settings, equality & inclusion in care settings and health & safety and wellbeing in care settings (these units may differ).
