Commercial Apprentice:
This could include disciplines such as sales, customer services, business development, pricing and procurement/goods in. Apprentices will be exposed to various business processes, including sales, customer service, business development, pricing and procurement to enable them to develop a robust knowledge of our business and how it operates.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the sales team with all aspects of administration
- Collecting and analysing data in order to maximise customer satisfaction
- Developing an in-depth knowledge of IT systems within the company
- Working within the sales team to obtain a detailed understanding of key processes such as quotation management, order acknowledgement and managing and maintaining an order book
- Understanding and applying guidelines i.e., feasible processes, capacity, purchase orders, credit and compliance of customer requirements
- Checking and ensuring accuracy in customer orders
- Become familiar with product quality requirements and how this impacts the ability to fulfil customer orders
- Work closely with the sales team to understand their role and support them with customer activities such as processing orders, changes, complaints and analysis
- Learning how to identify critical service issues and how to resolve these
- Become fully aware of the United Steels’ Health and Safety policy
- Support market intelligence gathering
- Develop core skills in a fast-paced office environment
- Learn how to apply pricing to a Customer's enquiry
- Populating USL’s various purchasing systems, progressing orders with suppliers and keeping systems updated
- Goods in/stock management - Lean to control the flow of material receipts at USL daily

United Steels Ltd, based on Gibbons Park Industrial Estate in Kingswinford are currently looking for a new Commercial Apprentice and also a new Production Planner Apprentice to join the business.
We are an independent family owned business that have been servicing the steel Industry for over 40 years. Throughout this time the business has invested heavily in high specification steel processing machinery, evolving in line with the UK/European markets and pushing the boundaries of the countries processing capabilities.

Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship Standard.
Full training will be provided on an ongoing daily basis and when required.
An assessor will be allocated to you to progress/help you through you course.
Continual assessment for NVQs coupled with assignments/or exams depending on course of study.
Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.
No College attendance is required - the coursework is delivered to you in your workplace.
