The successful candidate will be joining DCSPS as a key team member providing maintenance, troubleshooting and support to customers throughout Europe and the UK. All training will be provided and day release paid for to allow further education as you will be working towards becoming a DCS Engineer, initially studying for a BTEC Level 3 and then going on to study for an HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
The role will include:
Supporting our team of engineers in maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting industrial computer systems.
Supporting DCSPS personnel on a day-to-day basis.
Flexible working hours and occasional travel to customer sites, predominately power stations within the UK and Europe.
Requirements and prospects
Desired skills
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent computer skills with good knowledge in hardware, software, Windows-based operating systems, office packages (MS Word/Excel/Powerpoint), installing applications, networking and troubleshooting.
Some experience in using basic hand tools.
Some knowledge and understanding in electronics and electrical circuits.
Personal qualities
Highly motivated, hardworking, focused, good timekeeping and adaptable.
Professional, approachable and a team player.
Keen interest in computers, technology, electronics and a thirst to learn.
Able to work under pressure and to time constraints.
Ability to overcome problems and challenges without being defeatist.
Desired qualifications
GCSE grades C/4, or equivalent, in English, Science and Maths
Future prospects
Employment with the company on satisfactory completion of the apprenticeship.
Things to consider
Ideally, hold a full UK driving licence but not essential
