As part of this role you will be required to study towards the Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard at Colchester Institute. 

Key duties will include:

  • Supporting Network Managers in schools
  • Assisting school staff with ICT issues
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on equipment
  • Run regular Back Up checks
  • Advise schools on best ICT practices
  • Problem solving on hardware and software issues
  • Basic User management
  • Uphold Network security
  • Maintain ICT Asset Registers within schools

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Good knowledge and understanding of computer systems
  • Knowledge of Office 365 and Google G-Suite
  • Good communication skills

Personal qualities

  • It is important for a candidate to be presentable and punctual.
  • You will be working alongside teachers and admin staff in schools so an ability to communicate effectively is important.

Desired qualifications

  • 4 GCSEs at grades C/4 and above (or equivalent qualifications), including maths and English
  • All candidates will be required to complete Colchester Institute's mandatory initial assessment process before being put forward to the company. This will consist of online assessments and interview with the relevant department

  • This role trains candidates on a wide variety of skills which can be utilised within multiple business settings.

  • The role requires on-site visits at different schools so the candidate must have their own transport / be able to travel to sites

About the employer

We support ICT in Primary Schools across north Essex. We are on-site in schools and also provide remote support. We encompass administration and curriculum ICT – all ICT and some AV equipment within the school. This includes office computers, classroom computers and screens, tablets and servers.

We support Microsoft 365, Google and a variety of MDMs for schools.
