We are looking for an Apprentice who has passion for hairdressing, artistic flair (likely to have taken art/design at school) with previous salon or college experience and already passed GCSE level 4 in Maths and English. You must be friendly chatty personality and enjoys working as part of a busy team.

    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

    Monday to Friday 9 am to 6 pm Saturday 8.30 am to 5 pm College day Monday or Tuesday. Day off Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday. We intend to re-introduce a late night until 8 pm. 36 hours (including time at College).

The duties will vary depending on the previous experience of the applicant, but we will train the Apprentice to be able to do the following:

  • Support the qualified stylists within the salon
  • Maintain the standards within the salon, including tidying and cleaning
  • Reception, use of Salon IQ booking system, use of telephone, greeting clients and checking them in 
  • Washing, conditioning hair, and applying treatments such as Olaplex and Moroccan Oil
  • Washing off colours
  •  Applying colours under supervision, initially all over colours, then root tints and balayage
  • Highlights and low-lights
  • Blow-dries, short, long and curly
  • Perms
  • Cutting hair, both on ladies and gents

You will need to been artistic, and have a flair for hairdressing.

Personal qualities

Enjoy working as part of a team, in a customer facing role.

Desired qualifications

GCSE English and Maths is required.

Some previous hairdressing training is preferred.

Future prospects

We encourage all our Apprentices to stay within the business, and would like them to apply for a permanent Junior Stylist position. There may be positions available locally, at either at the Slough or Watford branches.

Redmill Hair salon is based at 33 Buckingham Avenue, on the Slough Trading Estate, is an independent chain of 5 salons, including Slough and Watford. All our staff are fully employed on PAYE, with paid holiday, NEST pension scheme (subject to qualifying criteria), we have in salon training from L’Oreal Matrix, and also have external cutting and first aid training.
