As an Engineering Technician at Henwood Engineering Ltd you will learn and carry out tasks relating:

  • Machining (both manual and CNC)
  • Welding
  • Fabrication
  • Traditional hot riveting and boiler work 
  • Hand fitting and assembly
  • Coach painting (including preparing parts for painting).

Other daily duties will include:

  • Assisting other team members with their work
  • Providing hands on help within the workshop
  • Individually carry out tasks for restoration projects, such as machining a component on a lathe under guidance, helping to restore a traction engine boiler

Henwood Engineering Ltd provides a service focusing on restoring and repairing steam traction engines. Our company uses traditional skills to offer a 'one stop shop' for steam engine restoration. 

We specialise in steel fabrication and boiler work, manual and CNC machining and traditional hand fitting and coach painting. Some of the many projects include, the complete restoration of steam engines in our mid-Cornwall based workshop, with some of our cliental coming from as far away as New Zealand.

As a well-established business of over 10 years, we employ a team of people with over 100 years of experience between them.  Part of our team is made up of two apprentices, and our current Managing Director Sam Henwood, of whom qualified in his apprenticeship with Cornwall College.
