  • Programming CNC Machines using Siemens 840d, Mazak and Fanuc controls
  • Operating manual machines, including manual lathe and milling machines and the saw

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £4.30 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
The minimum wage rates are £6.45 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.70 for anyone aged 21 and over.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider


Applications for this apprenticeship are being processed by TDR Training Ltd

As an apprentice with Miller UK, you will be trained within the field of engineering within the company and receive all the relevant inhouse training and development.

You will attend TDR Training & Development Centre (Scotswood Road) to achieve your Performing Engineering Operations qualification (PEO), if you have not already achieved this.  This will be as a block release and you will attend Monday - Friday over a number of weeks.

You will be assessed within the workplace for the NVQ part by an assessor of TDR Training. 

You will also attend TDR Training (Quorum Business Park) to work towards achieving your Btec in Engineering for a period of 2 years.

You will be required to complete functional skills in maths, English and ICT if you have not achieved the required level at GCSE (Grade 4 or above).
