The opportunity to join a small but rapidly growing food manufacturing business in Ripon, North Yorkshire has opened.
Working closely with the Managing Director and Production Supervisor, with additional support from in-house mentor and coach, you’ll strive to continuously improve quality and efficiency of the production process and finished product.
The broad purpose of the role is to support the manufacture of quality preserves and ambient food products. You’ll be responsible for start-up, close-down, changeover, and handovers in the manufacturing process as part of the business’s SALSA accreditation standards.
You’ll also have the freedom to explore best practices and implement improved processes to ensure the team are efficient and that SOP’s are up to date.
Where some struggle with technical processes, you’ll love the detail and be focused on the implementation of high-quality records. Through monitoring Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points and recording the results, you’ll always be prepared for internal and external audits.
There are risk assessments, incident control procedures and traceability records to complete as well as training and leading by example to support the team to adhere to and understand the processes in place.
Time on the production line including ingredient preparation, cooking, packing, clean down and goods intake. Positive communication skills are necessary to support team engagement in conducting the necessary records.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director.
An employee in this occupation is responsible for working as part of a team to manufacture safe and compliant products. They need to meet deadlines, productivity, efficiency, hygiene, and environmental requirements, and ensure the health and safety of self and others.
Requirements and prospects
Skills required to fulfil the roles include:
- Food production experience desirable but not essential.
- Be able to operate in accordance with relevant safety and quality Standard Operating Procedures
- Ability to work in a team environment & independently
- Good work ethic, efficient, reliable and trustworthy
- Be able to complete on-line quality checks
- Enthusiasm and passion for your role and the food industry. Happy to assist in other areas of the business if needed.
- Attention to detail.
- Good communicator.
- Quick thinking and problem solving would benefit.
Maths and English at a minimum of a pass - however not essential as Maths and English functional skills can be provided.
Potential to move to other roles of interest within the business including sales/marketing assistant, production management, technical lead

The place of work is in Ripon just near the Grammar school on a local and regular bus route.
About the employer
Manufacturer of artisan jams, chutneys, sauces, relishes and other ambient products. Selling to retailers, markets and hospitality. Also, contract packing for other brands/products supplying to larger retailers. Currently 2 employees.
