You will be highly trained to work in the world of manufacturing, the initial training will be broad based leading to a first appointment as a Production Operative.

This is a 15 month, Level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship, requiring the successful candidate to attend college one day per week for the duration of the training.

The job role will include:

Operating a rolling mill machine
Reading instructions
Operating the controls
Using measurement tools such as verniers
Visual inspections of the surface finish
Liaising with shift planner, managers and fellow colleagues
Eventually you will be trained to drive a forklift truck and to operate overhead cranes

No previous experience is necessary, but you must have a genuine interest in engineering - school studies / qualifications / hobbies would be ideal Quick to learn Good verbal and written communications Organisation skills Good numeracy skills Able to work independently and with other team members

GCSE or equivalent at grade 4/C as a minimum in maths and English.

Future prospects

The apprentice would be taught a variety of different skills and a number of rolling machines. The Company will coach and mentor the individual to their highest capability.
