This apprenticeship is based out of our Shrewsbury Office, you will visit our customers premises including; commercial, retail, schools and private dwellings, installing and/or servicing fire and/or security systems which include but not limited to audible and remote signalling fire and Intruder alarms, Access control and CCTV systems.
You will be expected to work to a high standard alongside a qualified engineer. You will be transported to and from customer premises. You will be required to be able to get to the office every morning, on time.
You will be trained to relevant industry standards and codes of practice which will include installation, commissioning systems and servicing with accompanying documentation and marking up fitted drawings, completing demonstrations and handover to the end user.
The apprenticeship compromises of on-job training with us and off-job training in the form of weekly day release at SBC Training. Your progress will be continually monitored and you will attend tool box talks as well as internal industry training programs to help you develop your skills.

The successful applicant should have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSE's or equivalent Grade C/4, ideally including maths and English.
Future prospects
Once your training is completed and you have proved yourself, we would review your position with a view to offering you a full-time position as a qualified installation and/or service engineer. The benefits of which include; Company Vehicle/Mobile/laptop/plant. Industry training would continue to increase with the potential for future promotion.

The successful applicant will work towards the Fire Emergency and Security Systems Technician standard. It is a Level 3 apprenticeship.
Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technicians design, install, commission and maintain electronic systems in and outside simple and complex premises to protect individuals, homes and properties from risk and danger. The apprenticeship is made up of the following;
Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours – Learners and employers will have a range of options to select from that cover each knowledge module of the apprenticeship standard.
Functional Skills - These provide practical skills to help gain the most out of work, education and everyday life. Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.
End point assessment - The End Point Assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship. It comprises of knowledge and practical tests as well as a professional discussion and interview.
