Duties will include:

  • Maintain the health, safety and welfare of the children
  • Share responsibilities with team members for children working in areas inside and outside the nursery
  • Plan and prepare ways for the nursery curriculum to be implemented
  • To provide age appropriate activities for small and large groups
  • To be involved in activities that celebrates the seasons and various festivals
  • To assume the role of key worker for children in the key group and plan effectively for their individual needs
  • Observe, monitor and assess individual children especially those in assigned key group and keep clear accurate written records
  • To discuss children’s progress in areas of desirable learning outcomes at bi-annual parent evening sessions
  • To discuss children’s progress with other team members
  • To ensure that all children have equal access to all activities irrespective of gender, race or ability/disability, whilst respecting each child’s individuality
  • To be responsible for maintain the behavioural management policy
  • To be aware and able to work in accordance with the child protection policy

Health and Safety:

  • To be familiar with the nursery’s health and safety policy
  • To maintain nursery equipment in good condition, reporting any breakages to the manager
  • Administer first aid when required in accordance with first aid policy
  • To be familiar with fire regulations also participate in regular fire drills
  • To be aware of the body fluids policy and put into practice when appropriate

Administration:

Keep up to date, accurate records including:

  • Medication forms
  • Accident reports
  • Fire drills
  • Weekly/daily activities
  • Individual development records
  • To provide a constantly stimulating environment by ensuring presentation of children’s work, interest areas and displays

Parents:

  • Share the children’s experiences on a daily basis with parents
  • Build positive relationships and work collaboratively in parent partnership
  • To be available to speak to parents at appropriate times to discuss any queries or concerns
