Our wonderful Babyish Nursery, now in a great new location, is recruiting staff to join our exciting team. The Nursery Practitioner will work as part of the day care team under the direction of the Manager to provide safe, loving and high-quality care for children aged between 3 months to 2.5 years.

The role will be suitable for an individual who has substantial experience with children aged between 6 months to 2.5 years and also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The Nursery Practitioner will support the Manager in the planning and implementation of the curriculum and prepare the necessary resources, materials and equipment required.
They will support the day-care's ethos and ensure children are given the appropriate level of support. The role will require the job holder to work with and have collective responsibility for small groups of children as directed by the Manager. Furthermore, the job holder will build the credibility of the day care centre in order to empower management and staff to fulfil their roles effectively.
Duties will include:
• To help prepare and fully set out the day-care space before the children arrive and tidy it up after they leave
• To take responsibility for the general welfare of children e.g. changing nappies, mealtimes and the supervision of indoor and outdoor play
• To deal with children in a caring and loving way by taking a sympathetic and reassuring approach at all times
• To comply with all aspects of the day care centre’s health and safety policy and inform the Manager of any matters that may have arisen during the working day
• To foster and maintain appropriate working relationships with colleagues peers and parents in all aspects
• To contribute towards an attractive and stimulating educational environment for the development of children in line with the EYFS
• To support the first aider and look after sick children in consultation with the Manager
• To attend educational visits at the request of the Manager
• To help the children improve their people social skills and provide the appropriate credible professional advice as and when required
• To assist with the evaluation of the programme in as part of an evaluation team to ensure the effectiveness of the day care centre
• To assist with regular observations and assessment of the children and to meet with parents together with other team members to discuss the progress of the children
• Ensure records are kept up to date on both computerised and paper filing systems

Candidates must be good team players, dedicated, happy to sit on the floor and work with the kids and also happy to work with children who are not yet verbal.

We are a close knit team, everyone helps each other and this requires staff to have an easy going and collegiate personality.

NVQ Level 2 required.

About the employer
Our nursery South Hampstead Daycare – Babyish, is part of the United Synagogue Group. We have up to 21 children in a session ranging from 6 months to 2.5 years. They are in one large room with several members of staff and a variety of areas with different interests for the age range.
We are a Jewish nursery but most of our staff are not Jewish.

Over the course of 15 – 18 months (dependent upon the level of course an apprentice is being enrolled onto), you will study units such as health & safety in a childcare setting, holistic child development, safeguarding in a childcare setting, child development, communication with children, purposeful play and educational programmes, supporting children with special educational needs, collaborative working in early years childcare, wellbeing principles for children and at higher levels, child protection, data, supporting key life transitions and behaviour management (these modules may differ).
Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.
Apprentices must successfully complete the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid. (RQF) or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Or complete a first aid course delivered by one of the following types of organisations as per the EYFS requirements.
