Duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Contribute to the provision of a safe, well maintained and stimulating play environment in which children are able to play freely
  • Assist Lead Practitioners in the planning, preparation and implementation of activities which meet the children’s individual needs
  • Assist the Lead Practitioners in the assessment of children
  • Work face-to-face with the children who are registered within
  • Follow guidelines, policies and procedures for safe-guarding children as recommended by the registering Authority
  • Administer First Aid as appropriate
  • Administer intimate care for all children
  • Contribute to and be involved in, liaison with parents, schools and other agencies as appropriate
  • Assist the Lead Practitioners to develop best practices which meet identified quality indicators
  • Assist the Manager in the day to day administration and record keeping
  • Assist in the maintenance of appropriate records, registers and reports to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met
  • Attend internal and external meetings/courses as necessary, to ensure the successful delivery and development of the service
  • Assist the Nursery Manager in ensuring that all aspects of the service provision meet the requirements of relevant legislation. For example The Children’s Act 2004
  • Undertake Health and Safety responsibilities which fall within the Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) 1974
