Today we are one of the largest independent manufacturers of presswork and assemblies in Europe, producing and distributing millions of parts per week across several sites in the UK, Europe and Asia.
What Does Maintenance involve?
Maintenance Engineers are responsible for carrying out equipment and site repairs, modifications and improvements.
Typical duties include:
Fault finding and associated repairs on a variety of plant equipment
Carrying out inspections and reporting findings
Assisting with planned maintenance programmes.
What does a Sertec apprenticeship involve?
As an Engineering apprentice you will undertake a structured 4 year development programme, where you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills whilst working directly with industry professionals. You will gain direct experience alongside college based learning which will provide you with the best start to your career in Engineering.
You will spend your first year at our Training Provider’s training centre completing Level 2 foundation skills and you will work towards your level 3 BTEC. On your return to company, you will complete an NVQ level 3 and dependent on your commitment and progress, you may also move on to study a HNC or Degree level qualification.

Desired qualifications
5 GSCEs, or equivalent, at C+ grade or above (Grade 5-9), (including Maths, English and Science).
Future prospects
On completion of your level 3 apprenticeship, you may also move on to study a HNC or Degree level qualification when you join the Maintenance team as a Multi-skilled Maintenance technician. This means that you will be qualified to fault find, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic systems.
