Smoke-Free Future? Bring it on.
PMI is the home for people who dream big and embrace difference. We give our apprentices the tools and skills they need to accelerate their careers in a changing world. Our embark programme pairs the drive to change an industry with tailored learning over an accelerated 18-month experience – the possibilities are infinite.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Embark is our brand new, UK-based, 18-month apprenticeship scheme, putting you at the centre of driving a smoke-free future for your local community.
You’ll need to be adaptable, able to educate and manage expectations of retailers, and determined to succeed. Embark is the catalyst for a successful career in our industry-leading multinational.
You’ll need to effectively manage your own time as we give you the space you need to deliver outstanding results, backed up with training and support from an industry-leading, multinational organisation and experienced mentors.

This isn’t a one-size-fits all opportunity. We’re looking for people who’ll go above and beyond, take learning in their stride, and take responsibility for their own accelerated development. Each retailer relationship you develop will be unique, and you’ll need to think on your feet, making use of our robust guidelines and training and solving individual business needs.
We want you to use your initiative, adapt and build strong relationships, educate retailers and manage the expectations of the consumer. We give you the space you need to deliver.

Duties to include

  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Make an impact on business need and make an impact within their local communities
  • Explore, plan, and build new territories
  • Coaching retailers, providing education on new initiatives, growing business
  • Gain insights from shadowing our directions, senior management and area managers

ALL THE REST
We’re looking to hire for local roles in:

London
Sheffield
Northampton
Nottingham

To fully succeed in this role and provide the best service for your clients, it is important that you have good local knowledge of your chosen location. A large portion of the role is getting to know your local community, so if you’ve grown up in the area – or have a great working knowledge of it – you’re already well on your way to success.

We’re also looking for people:

With a valid UK driving license (that you have held for a minimum of 1 year. Don’t worry – we’ll provide the car, but your license is essential as you will need to drive within a 50 mile radius)
Who are 18 or above as you will be dealing with tobacco products
Who have attained a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9–4/A*– C (or equivalent)

However, we’re more interested in your passion and drive than the qualifications you have previously completed, so we welcome applications from all academic backgrounds.
While we welcome applications from all nationalities, candidates must have the right to work in the UK and have experience of living/working in the local area. PMI doesn’t offer sponsorship for the embark apprenticeship programme.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Throughout the embark apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience across several key areas. From a Territory Activation Executive (TAE) to shadowing the head of the Field Force – and all roles in between – you will be involved in crucial work across the business from day one.
Throughout your induction and the wider embark programme, you will have the support of an experienced mentor and buddy to guide you through the process, as well as your programme manager who will help encourage your development and progression.
WHAT WE OFFER

Wherever your career at PMI takes you, the work you do will improve the lives of legal-age smokers across the world. Our customer is never far from our minds, and neither are you as a PMI employee. We’re here to improve your life too.
£23,000 per year
Company car
Flexible working opportunities
Private medical and dental insurance
Development-oriented mentoring and training
£500 of flexible benefits to be spent on a range of options (gadget insurance, taste cards, cycle to work scheme)
Real pride in your work – the chance to make a difference in your local community

About the employer

This is the biggest shift in the history of Philip Morris International. Our transformation has been many years in the making, and thanks to the imagination and perseverance of thousands of people at PMI, we have developed smoke-free products that are better alternatives to cigarettes. Why are we doing this? It’s the right thing to do. There are an estimated one billion-plus smokers in the world, and they should be encouraged to quit. But for those adult smokers who would otherwise continue smoking, we want to provide them with smoke-free alternatives.
