THE OPPORTUNITY
Embark is our brand new, UK-based, 18-month apprenticeship scheme, putting you at the centre of driving a smoke-free future for your local community.
You’ll need to be adaptable, able to educate and manage expectations of retailers, and determined to succeed. Embark is the catalyst for a successful career in our industry-leading multinational.
You’ll need to effectively manage your own time as we give you the space you need to deliver outstanding results, backed up with training and support from an industry-leading, multinational organisation and experienced mentors.
This isn’t a one-size-fits all opportunity. We’re looking for people who’ll go above and beyond, take learning in their stride, and take responsibility for their own accelerated development. Each retailer relationship you develop will be unique, and you’ll need to think on your feet, making use of our robust guidelines and training and solving individual business needs.
We want you to use your initiative, adapt and build strong relationships, educate retailers and manage the expectations of the consumer. We give you the space you need to deliver.
Duties to include
- Build meaningful relationships
- Make an impact on business need and make an impact within their local communities
- Explore, plan, and build new territories
- Coaching retailers, providing education on new initiatives, growing business
- Gain insights from shadowing our directions, senior management and area managers

To fully succeed in this role and provide the best service for your clients, it is important that you have good local knowledge of your chosen location. A large portion of the role is getting to know your local community, so if you’ve grown up in the area – or have a great working knowledge of it – you’re already well on your way to success.
We’re also looking for people:
With a valid UK driving license (that you have held for a minimum of 1 year. Don’t worry – we’ll provide the car, but your license is essential as you will need to drive within a 50 mile radius)
Who are 18 or above as you will be dealing with tobacco products
Who have attained a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 9–4/A*– C (or equivalent)
However, we’re more interested in your passion and drive than the qualifications you have previously completed, so we welcome applications from all academic backgrounds.
While we welcome applications from all nationalities, candidates must have the right to work in the UK and have experience of living/working in the local area. PMI doesn’t offer sponsorship for the embark apprenticeship programme.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Throughout the embark apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience across several key areas. From a Territory Activation Executive (TAE) to shadowing the head of the Field Force – and all roles in between – you will be involved in crucial work across the business from day one.
Throughout your induction and the wider embark programme, you will have the support of an experienced mentor and buddy to guide you through the process, as well as your programme manager who will help encourage your development and progression.
