Main duties

You will be trained in all aspects of reception and office administration to include:

  • Using the various clinical systems,
  • Booking appointments
  • Registering patients
  • Setting up patient online access
  • Generating repeat prescriptions
  • Filing paper and electronic documents
  • Sorting and scanning post
  • Answering emails
  • Providing cover for reception as required
  •  Making and receiving telephone calls
  • Greeting patients
  • Communicating with medical professionals and services
  • Supporting Doctors and practice team as necessary
  • Looking up and giving test results

  • Ideally candidates would be, motivated, friendly and approachable

  • 5 GCSE's at A*-C/9-4, to include English and maths or an equivalent qualification i.e. Functional Skills Level 2


  • Higher academic qualifications, e.g. A levels or BTEC (welcome but not essential)

Future prospects

  • Potential to lead to a permanent post within the surgery
  • Skills and experience could be transferable to other healthcare environments.
  • You will gain all of the necessary skills and experience required to be successful in customer facing or administration roles within the NHS as well as many other sectors.

About the employer

The surgery was purpose-built in 1991 and is located in the centre of Goudhurst, opposite the village hall. There is easy wheelchair access and the Surgery has facilities for the disabled.
