MAB Portsmouth specialises in mortgages, taxes, pensions and financial advice. There are three Directors, numerous mortgage advisors and eight administrators all located at our vibrant and friendly Portsmouth office.
We are looking for a friendly face to greet our clients on the reception desk. You will answer calls and transfer to the relevant person/s, scan, print and shred documents. Transferring data on Word and Excel spreadsheets and working alongside the directors and senior administrators compiling reports.
You will be required to learn the day to day use of our client management system and will be a valued member of the team.

Desired qualifications
Maths or English at GCSE 9-4/A*-C or Functional Skills Level 2, with the other subject with grade GCSE 4-2/C-E or Functional Skills Level 1. The subject with grade GCSE 4-2/C-E or Functional Skills Level 1 will be upskilled to gain a Functional Skills Level 2.
Due to the demands of the role the employer has confirmed they will release the apprentice to gain a Functional Skills Level 2 in maths OR English. The business needs will not allow classes in both subjects. Applications with less than the required grades will not be considered. Equally, applications received without stating GCSE maths and English/Functional Skills/equivalent results will not be considered.Future prospects
There is space in our team for the right candidate to become a full time employed member of the team. If that means continuing to welcome our clients, learning the skills of the administrators, or looking to become a mortgage and or financial advisor.

What does the programme include?
The Apprenticeship will focus on Business Administration and includes the following knowledge criteria:
- Understanding the organisational purpose, activities, aims, values, vision for the future and resources.
- Knows the organisational structure and demonstrates understanding of the benefits, knows their role in the team and recognises how their skills will help them progress.
- Understands Laws, regulations and internal policies all related to their sector.
- Understands relevant external factors (policy change, supply chain, national/global markets, employment).
- Business Fundamentals – managing change, business finances and project management.
What attendance is required?
Attendance at College will be required on weekly on Wednesdays 9am-12pm. Your assessor will liaise with you to set up mutually convenient times for consultation and assessment visits at your place of work.
It is a Government requirement for you to spend 20% of your apprenticeship working towards your “Off the Job Learning” – off the job learning can consist of college attendance, homework/coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching – plus a number of other tasks.
Learning and assessment
Apprentices build a portfolio of work and work place assessors will be in regular contact to provide support, and to arrange on-site visits to observe the apprentices’ ability and skills in their daily role. It is important for the apprentice to take ownership of their own learning by seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with the employer. The apprentice’s final grade will be determined by collective performance in the three assessments in the endpoint assessment. To achieve a pass or distinction the apprentice will need to score60%-79% (pass), 80%+ (Distinction).
The three assessments are:
• Online Knowledge Based50 multiple choice questions - 60 minutes (33.3%)
• Portfolio Based Interview – 30-45minutes (33.3%)
• Project Improvement Presentation20-30 minutes (33.3%)
Portsmouth College and Highbury College have merged to become the City of Portsmouth College. This apprenticeship will be registered under the Highbury College apprenticeship banner, with teaching and learning support from Portsmouth College.
