This is a new role for our business and will sit within our Logistics team based at our Preston site. Your apprenticeship will last for a minimum of 2 years, during which time you will experience business functions across logistics, transport and planning.

Support from peers, and one to ones with your line manager will be in place. You will also be able to access, and utilise, our comprehensive training and materials. We will support you to regularly review your strengths, build on them and identify areas for development.

Key Competencies:

Adaptable and able to work both under own initiative and part of a team

Desire to be involved in transport sector with potential to complete HGV training in the future

Organised and ability to prioritise workload

Whilst knowledge of UK geographical areas will help with route planning and be an advantage, training will be given to the successful applicant

Key Duties:

To use our SAP system to complete daily workload and print delivery paperwork

To use excel and word to record and report transport data

Plan relevant deliveries utilizing the software available on site to ensure delivery windows are met

Liaise with customer/drivers in relation to delays/possible issues

Complete load reports in line with operational requirements

Brief drivers ahead of leaving the site to ensure they understand their instructions

Debrief drivers upon return to ensure all documentation has been completed

Manage driver WTD compliance

Download driver cards / vehicle units for analysis

Comply with all transport legislation reducing tachograph infringements

Coordinating vehicle maintenance/driver daily nil defect

Things to consider

Mix of working inside and outside throughout their working day. PPE is warm for colder months and will be provided. The building is on a main bus route.
