As a Carpentry Apprentice your role is as a trainee carpenter, however, we expect you to:
- To work and train under the direction, guidance and supervision of an experienced Construction Manager
- To represent Exeter Carpentry Construction with respect and professionalism
- Positively and actively participate in all aspects of your learning, training and skills gained
- Treat your colleagues, mentors and managers with respect
- Take responsibility for yourself and others regarding safe working and Health & Safety standards and practices
Some duties will include:
- Prepare wood for carpentry purposes
- Learn all types of joint fittings
- Correctly use tools and machinery
- Learn to hang doors
- Learn to build and fix roof gables
- Other types of carpentry as per course requirements

Personal qualities
This is a physical role which will involve working outside throughout the year, you’ll be working in a noisy, busy environment close to machinery. Key is a willingness to listen and a desire to learn.

Future prospects
Progression on to an Advanced Apprenticeship. There may be the chance of full-time employment for the right person.
Things to consider
Please make sure that you are able to travel to work each day. Having a Driving Licence would be an advantage though not essential
